The Small Business Dilemma Part 2

VIDEO IS A GREAT TOOL TO REACH MASS AUDIENCES!

In today’s world of tough competition for new and return customers/clients, a business must use all the tools in the tool box. I repeat: ALL THE TOOLS! This applies to all sized brick and mortar companies and E-Commerce operations regardless of scale. Businesses should utilize their Business Face Book page, their Business Web Page and a company specific You Tube Channel. Other options may include Twitter, Instagram and Instagram TV but you should choose one or two to focus on. The added benefit is that potential customers/clients can save and favourite your page, making it easier for them to return. Virtually all these options are free- use them!

Face Book is still a powerful option to reach a lot of people and gives viewers the option to share and like your page or post. This will extend your reach even further. Face Book can have video files promoting your company embedded in your page to add something that distinguishes your page from the millions of others and ties in to your total media presence.

You Tube is even more powerful. They are now the second largest search engine in the world. 98% of the 18-24 year old North American demographic spend up to 10 hours a week on this platform. They reach approximately 74% of the 65+ demographic for 1 hour of viewing per week. Of these numbers males still spend approximately 44% more time viewing than females, but this is rapidly changing.

As a side note: you can direct potential customers to your company You Tube Channel from your company Web page as a separate opening page. This will allow them two venues to pursue that both reference your company. Adding more may cause button chaos and they may not follow any. You Tube works as a stand alone platform choice while FB ties in to IG and IGTV so these may be the best choices.

Your video should explain how you can help the potential customer/client solve or fulfill a need with the products and or services you offer. It can also project the company image and feel by seeing what and who you are.

E-Commerce companies stand to see big gains from video too. As they don’t have a store front to let the customer/client ‘get to know’ the staff, this is a great method of doing so. E-Commerce sites can utilize all the tips below and if it’s a creator site they can also demonstrate how a product is made. Showing what’s involved in making the product will justify a higher price mark. E-Commerce may have instructional service videos, whether it be a work out or a how to cook with your product format.
